How to Prevent Frozen Pipes in North Texas Winters

Our winters are mild — until they aren't. Every few years a hard freeze sweeps through North Texas and we spend the following days doing burst-pipe repairs across Carrollton. A little prep goes a long way.

Before a freeze

• Insulate exposed pipes in the garage, attic, and along exterior walls with foam sleeves.
• Disconnect garden hoses and cover outdoor faucets with insulated covers.
• Know where your main shut-off valve is so you can act fast if a pipe bursts.
• Seal gaps where cold air reaches pipes (under sinks on exterior walls, crawl space vents).

During a hard freeze

• Let a faucet drip on the coldest nights — moving water resists freezing.
• Open cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air reach the pipes.
• Keep the heat on at 55°F or above, even if you're away.

If a pipe bursts

Shut off your main water valve immediately, then call us at 972-820-0565. Turning off the water is what stops the damage — we'll handle the repair, often the same day. After a major freeze event we prioritize active leaks first.
